And He is the Beginning
12 x 15" image printed on 13 x 19" paper "And He is the beginning, the first born fruit from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him. And through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him I say whether things on earth or things in heaven." Col 1:18-20 This poster is a fairly classic illustration of the twenty-four elders worshiping before the Lamb with the exception of there being a small nativity pictured below. It became my desire to express with forms and pictures a relationship between the incarnation and the resurrection that impressed itself upon me asI worked with the text. This relationship is, simply put, that in Christ's coming down we found our going up, and we find our going up to be with Him more to the point than we find His coming down to be with us since neither He nor we were born to stay here very long. For this the elders resurrected with him form something of a giant tulip shape blossoming high above that tiny hallowed head. JOB

A Light Dawned
12 x 15" image printed on 13 x 19" paper This was originally a Christmas card. Now poster size it shows the hard edges, made by pen, as torn edges which adds a texture that I like. As is apparent, my two distinct illustration styles are representational and figurative though sometimes a blend of both. Apollyon Engaged 12 x 18" Years ago I thought I could find enough work as an illustrator to quit my day job. This didn't happen. Recently I visited a box of never-published drawings done in the mid 80's, scanned them into the computer, and tweaked new life into them. They are sold here as prints. The storybook worlds of a Walter Crane, Arthur Rackham, or Caldecott seem far removed from those of a Chagall, Barbara Hepworth, or Richard Serra. But both illustrator and artist have their place in time and space on the same planet and at varying times and stages in the same person. Anyhow this print might be good for a boy's bedroom or any other room where good fantasy or, in Bunyan's case, simile is enjoyed. All posters are printed with archival inks on high-quality, professional grade photographic paper with a lustre finish.

REST FROM FLIGHT

Inspiration for this drawing is from chapter 12 in the "The Magician's Nephew," Book 1 in the Chronicles of Narnia by C. S Lewis. Digory is on the unseen side of Fledge and Polly on the other, taking sanctuary under the horse's wings. The three have been sent by Aslan on a dangerous mission for the protection of Narnia from the White Witch.
